+2 on the Glock. Or look at a nice S&W snubbie. They are small and carry very well.

Re: Subcompact Suggestions
What about a Walther PPS? Or a PPKS?
EDIT: Nevermind, wrong calibers.
Re: Subcompact Suggestions
If you're looking for an inexpensive polymer 9mm that carries well, I suggest the Taurus PT709. I had one for a while and it carried incredibly well, was 100% reliable, very affordable, and reasonably accurate. I ended up trading mine in on a Sig P239 because I really prefer metal over polymer frames, but the 709 was a good gun. In the cheap and easy to carry 9mm category you of course have the Kel Tec PF9 and Ruger LC9 as well. I've personally tested the 709 and PF9 side by side and the 709 was the clear victor. Gun Tests had a PF9 vs LC9 showdown and to my surprise chose the PF9, so perhaps the Taurus is the best of the bunch. Maybe give a few calls to local ranges and see if they have any to rent?
. . . another consideration could be the Kahr CW9. I personally don't like the trigger on it, but the gun has a good following.
Re: Subcompact Suggestions
I'd also suggest a Glock 26. If not that, then perhaps a Ruger SR9c.
Re: Subcompact Suggestions
While none of the above suggestions are bad ones, mine would be the Kahr CM9. Single stack magazine, makes it much thinner and easier to conceal than a Glock or other double stack semi-autos. I also CC a Glock 27 but often find it uncomfortable in the summer.
Re: Subcompact Suggestions
Another endorsement for the Glock 26. 10 in the mag and 1 in the chamber if you're so inclined. Then you can carry an extra mag (or more) from one of the other Glock models that will hold more than 10 rounds since some of the Glock mags (can't remember exactly which ones) will fit in the G26. Top it off with a Supertuck Deluxe and you're on your way.
