What is the minimum age for deer hunting in PA. My boy will be 11 in November this year, and I would accompany him. BTW, we are VA residents, but want to hunt in PA as we know somebody who has 160 acres there.

Edited out wrong info---thanks gnbrotz
That's only to obtain a license themselves. Under 12 can hunt under the Mentored Youth Hunting Program.
Also, the mentored youth hunt is only good when the Adult is a licensed hunter, and that person must carry the weapon until the hunters are on stand.
It is also for antlered deer only, not antlerless (doe) regardless of licensing.
Just to clarify, only antlered deer can be taken (no doe) when hunting deer, but other species are included in the program, so it's not stricly a "antlered deer only" opportunity.Quote:
What Species Can Be Taken By a Youth Participating in the Program?
The species identified as legal for the Mentored Youth Hunting Program are squirrels, woodchucks (groundhogs), antlered deer, spring gobbler and coyotes.
