Recommendations for .22lr Revolver
Hey gang,
I think the next thing my collection needs is a nice .22lr revolver for plinking and general range time fun. What say you?
I'd like to keep the price low but would prefer to buy a gun I can give to one of my boys at some point.
Thanks!
Oh and pics if you feel like sharing yours would be appreciated.
Re: Recommendations for .22lr Revolver
Its getting harder to find double action 22 revolvers, You may check Heritage arms, but I am thinking they are single actions. the older Harrington and Richardson 949 and 999 (DA's) where pretty good and made for many years, but simple parts are very hard to find anymore.
You could step up to a Ruger single six (SA), they make multiple versions, and would be a much better quality, making it a nice heirloom pistol..
good Luck.
I have 2 H&R's and one single six.. The six is actually the single nine in a 22 magnum, its nice, but I still like the H&R's around the farm and cutting wood.. I used the Ruger more for hunting.

There is a nice H&R Sportsman 999 at Czar Firearms in Ford City on Rt66 as of this past Monday when I stopped in. $399.

I have a Single 6 convertible.(.22lr/.22mag) It is nice revolver but a little boring in .22lr with only 6 shots. If .22lr only is fine I would look at the Single 10, more fun between reloads.

For a double action. Ruger has an SP101 in .22lr.

Ruger LCR in 22lr. Great trigger.
Re: Recommendations for .22lr Revolver
We have both the H&R Sportsman and the Taurus Tracker .22LR and they are lots of fun.
We have spent hours with friends shooting the Tracker.
Nice solid revolver with 8 round count and can switch between 22LR and 22 Mag cylinders.
The Tracker's design is based off of the Colt Python I believe.
We have the Tracker in .357 Mag also and love to shoot it.
Considering one in .44 Mag.
We also have a Ruger Single Six and though it is fun to shoot it is time consuming unloading and reloading the Single Action.
Let us know what you decide on!
God bless!!

Re: Recommendations for .22lr Revolver
I wanted a smith, but I could not justify paying that much for a .22lr, so I finally gave up trying to pick up a used one at a fair price and purchased a sp101 with a 4.25" barrel. Nice gun, but it has the typical shitty sp101 trigger, which will be getting upgraded at some point.

$400 for a 999? Wow, they've gone up in price. For that price, a Single Six isn't much more.
