Sold my FN down in Florida as to liquidating firearms but the ones sold down in Florida are slowly filling up the safe in Pa. for half the price of the FN I lean towards getting a Ruger 57,Ruger LCP Lite Rack 22lr,and the Glock 44 this year after more reviews become available.

I wouldn’t mind buying one if ammo prices come down substantially (say $15/box for target ammo) and once there is decent holster support for it. I doubt I would carry it, but when I go shooting I like running drills from the holster. It would make a decent lawn mower gun (fuck ground hogs - we have horses).

Rumor is Federal, Hornady and Remington are bringing out both defensive and budget 5.7x28 rounds. If that's the case, you may see 5.7 near 9mm prices. But it's all Internet rumor right now.
Re: The Ruger-57...as in 5.7x28!
I've done a little searching without luck. Anyone have any idea how the round would work in a 3.5" bbl?
I'd like to see a single stack for concealed carry.
Re: The Ruger-57...as in 5.7x28!
Certainly appears interesting.
Will keep an eye on it, to see what happens with it, and ammo for it, in about a year.

It would probably suffer from a significant drop in velocity. Figure roughly 1600fps from a 5" barrel (ss197) with a drop of 2-300 fps from a 3.5" barrel. Unless you're running hotter 5.7 ammo, you're better off with a .380 or 9mm.
Also, given the length of the round, you're going to be limited as to how compact a 5.7 gun can be. Look at the Ruger-57, the grip is wider front-to-back than a 9mm pistol, and then you have the chamber in front of it which is longer to accommodate the 5.7 round. Even if you cut the barrel down, it's still going to be a big gun.
I know that before he sold his company to Bond Arms, Arne Boberg talked about a 5.7 version of the XR45-S. I don't know if a prototype was ever made, but if it had come to fruition, it probably would have been the smallest 5.7 pistol on the market. A Bond Arms Bullpup pistol in 5.7 would be pretty damn cool.

Local shop here in the NE had one up for auction, they started it at .01 and it sold for $766.00 so it looks like people who know about it aren't willing to get stupid with the prices. By the time they pay listing and auction fees they may have been better of selling it in their store.
