Anyone want to have a milling party for their 80% receivers..

If you want to mill out your 80% receivers as you are learning, I can help
I have the jig for doing AR15, AR10, AR9, AR45's as well as all the tooling and drill press

So if anyone wants to have a milling party PM me

Will tactical snuggling be allowed?

Isn't letting someone else use your tooling for this an ATF no-no? I'm pretty sure that's what killed the building parties.

I’m pretty sure there was a legit business, CNC machines and money changing hands involved in that. The owner tried to get around it by having the owner of the lower be the one to hit the go button on the cnc machine saying that makes them the manufacturer.

Not sure how me and my brother or a neighbor getting together to do an 80% project turned into a manufacturing business, but I’m sure someone will tell me.

I would love to take the OP up on his offer if it wasn’t a 4 hour ride to him.

I'd like to hear more on this but my intuition tells me that you could use my machinery as long as I didn't do any of it for you..

This is what I remember as well. If I use your machine, but I do the work it is mine. If I use your machine and do not do the work it is not, and pushing the button on a pre-programmed unit is not really doing the work.

That is my understanding as well (not a lawyer). People can use your tools, like a manual mill, or drill press. But no money should change hands, and the person who owns the receiver should actually operate the tools.

As for the CNC machines? I think a case could be made if the person with the receiver actually wrote the program in question and did all the set up and tool touch offs, they would be the actual manufacturer.

It’s all good gentlemen. You can use someone else’s tools, machinery, house...heck! You can even drink their beer while building or working on YOUR firearms!

People need to stop fearing the government, when you are doing nothing wrong! I build ALL my own firearms now! I have all the tools, machinery as well..and I mill. I’m planning another one, but may not have all the parts. Still, I’m interested in being part of any building party for “moral support”, lol!

Not a lawyer either, but I believe the determining factor would be if any type of economic transaction occurred and could be proven, like even trading time or other items. If using someone else's tools alone is a problem, what happens if I loan someone a hacksaw and they cut their rifle barrel to make it an SBR? Am I the manufacturer now?

But we all no ATF can make 'interesting' determinations.

Just thinking here but what about people with disabilities? There are days where my 42 year old ass can’t grip and turn a screw driver properly because of the disease I have. Running my Foredom tool for more then a few minutes is pretty much out of the question 95% of the time. Does that mean I forfeit my legal right to manufacture my own firearm because I would need help from a friend?

I remember hearing a lot about AK builder parties back in the early 2000’s. The only difference is most receivers used were serialized. I guess that’s the big difference here.
