Think of the possibilities involving firearms. Light and air can easily pass through the ring sound not so much. Sound is reflected back towards it's source.

The 3d printed rings lack the warmth personality of the hand made Amish rings.
Diminishing sound may be desirable in certain circumstances, but surely it is not worth sacrificing the quality of rings made with love.

I doubt that the plastic these are made of can withstand the pressures and heat of a silencer. I doubt that these would be able to be machined in the traditional sense of machining. There are metal 3D printers out there, but the metal they use don't have the strength of something that's cast or machined.
Until there are Star Trek replicators, I doubt we'll see such a complex object being used in silencers.

Haven't looked into 3d printers in the last few years to know how far they've come with metals. Maybe one day!
3d printed metal is about the only way I expected it to be any kind of feasible.

3D printed 6ALv is used on turbine cones etc, very big in aerospace. It also costs a fortune.

A speaker and a vun shot are way different. The volume of expanding gas compared to the acoustic wave from a speaker propagates sound quite differently. Maybe as an adjunct to a suppressor after the violence is subdued.
