The switch for the lasermax ( Glock 19) replaces the takedown lever. You can turn it on with a press of the index finger which I kind of liked. My CT has a pressure switch activated when you grip the gun and a master switch you can turn off completely both on the back strap
I use a laser only on my LCP and my Wife's LCP and only because the factory sights on the LCP are absolutely useless. The lasers do work well at the distances I am likely to use the LCP (15 yards or less).
Otherwise, I am not a huge fan of lasers and find I can do a target acquisition with proper sights just as quickly.
I used a laser sight at a range once....once.
It showed just how unsteady my hand really is. :(
If lasers were fast for transition shooting, then all the gamers would be using them. But the dot gets lost on indeterminate backgrounds and that makes correction of the guns alignment problematic. A laser may well provide advantage in a number of situations, but in my opinion, it is a poor choice for a primary sight.
I love my laser on my M&P 45. I have the Crimson Laser grip and the crimson Lightguard. Its a great setup because all I have to do Is pick up the gun and it shines a light and a laser. It is very accurate.
I started with Lasers on all of my SD guns, now I only use Tritium sights.
Lasers my be most beneficial on a small gun like the LCP.
I have a Crimson Trace grip laser on my SR1911, my middle finger activates it just under the trigger guard. I can shoot with it 'at the ready' whether I activate the beam or not. My only problem, when target shooting with it, is my muscle memory tends to put my trigger finger above the trigger guard until ready to squeeze off a shot and blocks the projection of the beam when shooting with my strong hand. Still, as a few have mentioned it's a nice aid to my aging eyes.
In the first photo my thumb is activating the laser.
