How about a 'Where is carry prohibited?' in your county folder?
I don't know if a thread like this exists... I tried to search but wasn't getting much except for a thread on the Whitehall mall and one on LV mall(which was vague). (I searched the LV county to start)
So besides the common places we all know like courthouses, schools, etc... what are the other places in your county that signage, rules, or whatever prohibit carrying a weapon? Anytime there is a thread on a forum about someone asking if they can carry somewhere, someone makes the statement that its our job to know the law and rules of that establishment. I have no issue with that statement but finding it out is another story. How many people say not at the LV mall, but yet signage is damn near impossible to find... so how can we do our part to know when getting info is so unclear? I know I don't want to be on the receiving end of a lawyer because of someone elses poor signage. Poor signage is still signage and a large private company can afford a more shystery lawyer then I can.
Again.. unless I couldn't find a thread like this that already exists.. would it be smart if we tried listing places we know of that do have rules against it. I would even go as far as considering a short blurb about it.. example:
Whitehall mall - No - signage prohibits all weapons
LV Mall - Vague rules, may be asked to leave
Promenade Shops - no, sign posted
Store X - No sign, approached when OC, CC ok
These are just examples and are not to be fact but if you get my drift it might help those on here know before we go. Heck I hope someone chimes in with better wording to use for examples.
I know I'm knew to this forum and I'm not trying to force a 'sticky' or anything, but I have been a member of other types of forums for years and instead of searching for every type of thing separately, some forums consolidate info like that into one thread, even if its not a 'Sticky', its still there to direct people to it. And each time someone posts a new place, or updates info, it gets added to the first post... keeps people from having to read every post - just the first.
Good idea? No? Yes? Maybe? Just keep searching for places individually?
Re: How about a 'Where is carry prohibited?' in your county folder?
I am new to PA and have not seen any such signs and we get around quite a bit. I feel most store owners (small businesses) know that signs like that will keep honest carrying citizens out and criminals in.
This is a good idea for a thread as like you mentioned, don't want to be caught in a situation where you end up in jail or simply embarrassed due to "obvious" stupidity.
I'll keep an eye out.

To convict you of any sort of trespassing charge, they would need proof that you were aware of the policy. It's probably a bad idea to have such threads here on PAFOA.
If the property owner wants to make you aware of his policy, let him do the work. HE can be the one to take up wall advertising space and make the soccer moms think about reality now and then. No reason to help him out with a stupid policy.

I want to agree but ignorance of their rules is my fault isn't it?
I was at the Sands casino the other day, never saw a sign about weapons or firearms prohibited(I had none, just was looking for signage). Came home and checked and it seems like a pretty big issue if I carried there. Someone even commented there is a sign. I guess I never saw it. If it is prohibited then whats so wrong about wanting to inform others about it? Its a question that has been asked and people, including myself, are unclear. I don't like unclear answers when it deals with the possibility of dealing with LEO's.
I guess I'll just keep coming on and asking, or searching for threads that already exist if its a place I'm unclear about. I personally want to know.

Ignorance of statutes is your fault, ignorance of the private policy of a shopping center is their fault. A thread publicizing the policy of a local mall does nothing except provide evidence that you had "reasonable notice" of the policy, if you were a member of a forum that specifically mentioned it.

OK.. so how man places does a place like a mall need to post signs, and how clear do they need to be before it becomes my ignorance? Example.... I never knew movie theaters had a sign about carrying a gun.. but after the to do in Colorado people have posted all over about no gun policies in theaters, including one I frequent. So it must be known that ya can't carry in that particular theater... but I never knew it...I also never really looked for a sign. Heck i am drawn to all the posters for the upcoming movies. So if its posted and I didn't see it, is that still their ignorance or is it now mine?
I'm just trying to figure out where my responsibility to know a private establishments regulations ends(stop scouring the premises) and where their responsibility to make sure I know them begins(better signage). Am I making this more complicated then it needs to be?
I said earlier I like to be clear on things..... so this is just me wanting a clear understanding. I'm honestly not trying to be difficult. I just want to know so I am never accused of negligence on my end. Its not right that I should have to look all for signage when it should be clear. But exactly how much signage are these places really required to post to be within their legal limits to claim they posted and now I can be in trouble? or is this yet another problem where there aren't clear regulations set for whats acceptable and whats not?

Ah, Good old CONCEALED CARRY. Ever heard the saying "Outta Sight, Outta Mind? I think thats the best solution to all your problems. If I am in an establishment that is NOT listed on PA's places PROHIBITED by LAW, then I will pay a sign about as much attention as a 350 pound woman in yoga pants with 6 teeth and 5 screaming kids by her side, if you get my drift. Paul Blart can ask you to leave if he was to see you carrying, and then you WOULD BE REQUIRED TO DO SO, or face trespassing charges. Otherwise, you are breaking no laws, only a mall policy, (oh the horror). But the chance that the mall ninja husband of the above mentioned woman would actually be able to "make" you carrying a well hidden pistol, well, lets just say that aint likely.
