Pics denial
I was at a gun show yesterday and went to purchase a hand gun and was denied. This is my first purchase of any firearm so I was very suprised becauseI have no crimal record and have never been in any trouble in my life. I went threw pa state police background and FBI fingerprinting check for a job in early 2008 that both came back showing I have no crimal history. Any idea what could be the problem. How long does the challenge process take?

Re: Pics denial
Were you actually denied or just put into "research"?

Re: Pics denial
I know they do the PICS test via phone... It could be possible they enterred something in wrong, though I'd think pretty unlikely.

Re: Pics denial
he said denied and he had to send them the paper work

Re: Pics denial
PICS does make mistakes.
The dealer should have made it clear if your were denied pr put into research.
If the former he should have provided you with a challenge form. Follow the instructions very carefully and submit it.
If the latter then you will be contacted within 15 days as to the determination of approval or denial.

he said contact him tuesday and he would get the forms to me. I have printed them and filled them out. I am going to attach copies of the crimal checks I have had done.

Re: Pics denial
This may be a very "DUH" question, and I'd think that the gun dealer would've pointed it out before you started filling out paperwork, etc, but you're 21+ right?

Re: Pics denial
Haha alright! Like I said, it was pretty "Duh" but you never know.

Re: Pics denial
Curious...did you give them your soc. sec. # on the original form you filled out?
Sometimes you have a similar name to a "bad guy" and it might help if they have your SSN to further identify YOU.
