Sheriff Jewel Williams: NFA Friendly?
So he is the sheriff for Philadelphia and as per NFA regulation if you want to go the traditional way of getting your stamp you need the signature of a CLEO which I believe Williams being the sheriff has the power. He is a Dem so I doubt he would do it but has anyone contacted and attempted to get him to sign off on NFA?
Re: Sheriff Jewel Williams: NFA Friendly?
The sheriff of Philly is a man with the first name of Jewell?
Is that his real name or a nickname?
Re: Sheriff Jewel Williams: NFA Friendly?
Unfortunately, in Philadelphia, Police Commisioner Charles Ramsey is the CLEO that needs to sign off on NFA items. The Sheriff only deals with Sheriff sales on foreclosed homes and his deputies deal with prisoner transports.
Re: Sheriff Jewel Williams: NFA Friendly?
Commissioner Ramsey doesnt even support his own police officers so please dont think he will support you. He wont sign off. Didnt you see that big grin on his face as he sat next to VP Biden recently. All I can is good luck.

I know all about shitcago's inglorious Ramsey hence why I thought going around him would be a viable option since the NFA rules state you can use state or local DA/sheriff/Cleo. Haven't explored the DA option yet but wanted to ask about Jewell first.
Re: Sheriff Jewel Williams: NFA Friendly?
I'd be interested to hear if anyone has ACTUALLY tried.
According to my NFA Dealer, the Sheriff IS the person you need to see.
I do doubt that he will, but given my desire for a suppressor, I might just have to try anyway.

From a previous reply the Philly sherrif primarily deals w foreclosed homes and things if the nature, if his signature holds weight for nfa I doubt he'd sign off being 1) he prob doesn't know nfa and 2) if he does he will most likely not sign.
IMO from what I've read, go the trust/Llc route if you still can. I haven't been up to date on nfa but those options last I read are going to require a Cleo signature. Not sure if that came to fruition.
