Moving from NYC to Allentown
Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forum so I am sorry in advance if someone asked this question already. Where in Allentown is the sheriff’s office located so I can apply for the LCTF license? I’m moving to Allentown from NYC this November and will be looking to buy a hand gun for home defense and range shooting. I know I don’t need it to own one but, being that I am coming from NY, I’ll feel more comfortable having it before I go out and buy my Beretta PX4 Storm.
I’m currently in the process of getting my NYC license which is insane! For people who don’t know the process here is a link (http://www.throwinglead.com/index.ph...icense_process) it sucks that I will have to forfeit the $400+ I had to spend trying to get it but I’m looking forward to the move.

Welcome to the forum. Depending on what part of Allentown your moving to, You might be safer in the Bronx. The upside to moving to PA is you can legally drink a Big Gulp any fucking time your heart desires.

Makes no sense. Would you feel more comfortable having your commercial pilot's license before buying your handgun? Maybe you should wait for that.

Having an LTCF eliminates a lot of transport hassles. Makes perfect sense to me.
No need to be rude to new members, either.

I bought machineguns before I had a LTCF. And I got jacked up by cops about them at gunpoint during a felony stop. I also had handguns with me. And made it home just fine. LTCF would not have made a difference in the buying process, the jacking up process, or the getting home.
There is no reason to have a LTCF to buy a handgun. Most people in PA that own handguns do not have LTCF.

OK, take a deep breath. Relax. And welcome to PA.
You will soon be out of the Peoples Republic of New York. You are actually allowed to own a firearm in PA. And you don't have to jump thru any real hoops (other than that stupid PICS check).
Now wait, it is about to really get exciting.
You can not only own a pistol, or even a bunch of pistols. But you can carry one openly without any permit. You can carry concealed with a LTCF that is usually pretty easy to obtain.
OH WAIT.... It gets even better....
You can buy a rifle, and get this.... one with a 30 round magazine and then you can customize it to suit you any way you want.
Your going to love it here.
