Re: USPSA New Shooter Orientation Saturday 3-14-18 Alverton, PA (Pittsburgh Region)
Ive been interested in this for a few years now.
I dont own a fancy 1911, but would a full size Glock or Sig Sauer work?
Re: USPSA New Shooter Orientation Saturday 3-14-18 Alverton, PA (Pittsburgh Region)
Yes. The rest of the shooters will appreciate the fact they aren’t waiting for you to clear the malfunctions in your pretty 1911 or wait for your ten second reloads.
Go ahead 1911 guys. Tell me I’m wrong.

I don't compete but have spoken to a few guys at my club that do. Many people use non race guns. No one will "look down" on you if you do. They just want to grow the sport and all are welcome.

Production is by far the biggest division for people starting out. Or running limited with a gun that would be production legal so they don’t have to reload.
Show up with something you own. If you like it you can then start getting into the technical side.

It's a misconception that this is a sport for fancy 1911's. I shoot a Glock 17 in production and have no interest in changing that. I also shoot an MP5 clone in the pistol caliber carbine division.

Re: USPSA New Shooter Orientation Saturday 3-14-18 Alverton, PA (Pittsburgh Region)
East Huntingdon Sportsmen’s Association will host a Level 1 USPSA match on Sunday March 25, 2018. Registration for the morning event is from 8:15 AM to 8:50 AM with all squads beginning the match at 9:00 AM. Registration for the afternoon event is from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and will begin when the morning event is complete and squads are ready to go.
There will be 5 stages plus 1 classifier. The minimum round count for the match is 124.
EH will also host a New Competitor Orientation Class on Saturday, March 24, 2018. The classroom portion begins at 9:00 AM in the clubhouse. There is an opportunity for the class members to shoot 2 stages. The minimum round count for the class stages is 48 rounds. The orientation is FREE. Pass the word, this is a great way to get a friend started in our sport. Additional information.
We have begun using pre-registration for our matches through the Practiscore Match Management website. The primary purpose for doing this is to help shooters get themselves squadded with their shooting buddies and reduce some of the confusion on Sunday morning. Pre-registration will end at 8:00 PM on Friday March 23. Pre-registration is not required, you can still register on the day of the match. Match fees will still be collected on match day. The following links will take you to the pre-registration page.

· Sunday Match Pre-Registration
East Huntingdon Sportsmen’s Association has changed insurance companies and this has resulted in a change to the way we handle the GENERAL RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK form (a.k.a. waiver). In the past, the waiver statement was at the top of the sign-in sheet and your signature indicated acceptance of the waiver. The new process will require each person to sign an individual waiver form. Once signed, the form will be retained and will apply to future events; therefore you only have to do this once and you’re done (hopefully forever). The wording of the waiver can be reviewed at this link, if desired.
Match information is posted on the website http://ehpsa.com/wordpress/ and on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/USPSA.at.EH.
Visit the Western PA Section Web page for section news. Greg Zombek (Section Coordinator) is also issuing an e-mail Newsletter with Section info, including the upcoming match schedule. You can sign up to receive the Newsletter at this link http://eepurl.com/cA1aNn.
If you have the time and want to get more involved, setup for the East Huntingdon matches begins on Saturday at 9:00 AM. We provide lunch and the setup crew can shoot the match for score on Saturday afternoon. The first match is free for the setup crew in appreciation of their time and effort.
