SEPA, post house fire review of guns
As the title says, there was a gas explosion and subsequent fire. Few firearms in the safe survived, but there was definitely a good amount of heat in there (glock is sorta melty). Older Ithica shotgun, and a couple lever action 22s.
Anyone have a good recommendation for a gunsmith in SEPA or Philly suburbs to look over the guns etc?
Thanks in advance

Sorry to hear that. Mike Fix is closed, he was my go to guy. I wish I could help. Just wanted to let you know I’m sorry for your catastrophe and wish you better luck.

Me too, house fire is a terrible experience, good luck getting things taken care of.

Thanks for the kind words, it was my step-fathers finished barn building that actually exploded. Propane leak, and boom.

It seems there have been a few of those in the news this year. They do a quick and thorough job.

I'd clean up what is sentimental and make them wall hangers. If it got hot enough to melt the Glock, it might have been hot enough to screw up heat treatment on any metal in there.

No NRA bare-bones member insurance?
Re: SEPA, post house fire review of guns
I've done a few post fire recovery/clean up of firearms.
Some of them were covered by homeowners insurance.
If the temp. inside the safe was hot enough to leave a Glock frame looking like an old warped vinyl record but not hot enough to leave it crusty and unrecognizable, the temp. didn't get hot enough to ruin any tempered parts of the other guns.
Re: SEPA, post house fire review of guns
Sorry to here of your troubles. Save the glock it's a perfect start for a 80% build. On your other guns get the metal cleaned and in oil asap. Smoke alone can be very corrosive. These guns may well rust up quickly. I also agree with previous response on the heat. If the wood isn't charred badly they didn't get hot enough to mess with temper.
