Re: Looking for a gunsmith.
I looked at a picture of the Ruger 96 in 44 Mag. How is the front sight attached? If it's a dovetail mount, that may be an insurmountable problem. If it's a soldered ramp, or held with screws, it should be doable if you can live without the front sight.
There are a lot of gunsmiths listed in Schuylkill county. Have you Googled? Here's one group:

Re: Looking for a gunsmith.
Not listed in the Skook on that link is Dave Keefer Gunsmith in Pine Grove.
I'm not sure if he would be able to do it, or at least as high end of a job you might be looking for. (No experience with his gunsmithing skills)
Re: Looking for a gunsmith.
If you call pine grove guns, he has a gun smithing company up in Wilkes Barre area that does all of his gun smithing, and many other gun shops and dealers use this company as well, sorry I don't have anymore info on it!
Re: Looking for a gunsmith.
Only thing I found is a full integral and only a pic.

Re: Looking for a gunsmith.
Rosco,
We are gunsmiths in Montgomery county.
These are the conditions of putting a silencer on you gun.
We will need proof of your tax stamp for your silencer. Next, we make our own wrenches when needed.
If you need further info i’d Be glad to help.
Jerry
Re: Looking for a gunsmith.
My Suppressors are all legit, but what does that have to do with you threading a barrel???
Re: Looking for a gunsmith.
I'd be interested in knowing why you would need to be looking at someone's federal tax documents as well.

I was thinking the same thing. You don't need permission from the ATF to thread a barrel. If you get stuck finding someone, try Carper's Custon Gunsmith in Washington, PA.
Re: Looking for a gunsmith.
I found someone to do it for me. Thanks for all of the responses.
