SHIELD!
I love my g43, I originally had a shield and it was a great gun but once the G43 was released I shot them side by side then sold the shield.
I'm pretty excited ETS just release mags for the G43 also and I ordered a couple of 12 rounders for $14.99 a piece.
I have been very happy w/ my Sig 938. Although it is smaller than a Glock 43, the recoil is not nearly as snappy. It is a joy to shoot and works well for pocket carry.
I own or owned...
Walther PPS M1 - best shooter for me
Positive: reliable, easy to shoot
Negative: mag release, expensive mags, limited holster selection, my example did not like 147gr bullets
To me this was the best handling single stack but it had 1 major drawback for me... the mag release. i actually find the european mag release easier for me to manipulate but muscle memory always had me reaching for the standard mag release location. I know there is a M2 version with a standard mag release but i never tried it.
Glock 43 - it's my primary summer carry
Positives: reliable, easy to shoot, great aftermarket support
Negatives: Only 6 round factory magazines (+1 and +2 extensions are available), plastic sights, slippery grips if you have sweaty/wet hands
By the time i purchased 2 more mags, 2 +1 and 2 +2 mag extenders, metal night sights and talon grips it was the most expensive for me. new, the trigger is horrible but it gets better with time. I would still not call it a good trigger but there are plenty of aftermarket options.
M&P Shield 9 - best bang for the buck
Positive: reliable, easy to shoot, great ergo, great aftermarket support
Negative: trigger contour, grip is slightly longer
The trigger shoe is awkard for me since its hinged and curved more than most triggers. The Shield 2.0 is out with better grip texture.
Springfield XDs 9 -
Positive: reliable, 7, 8 and 9 round factory magazine options, springfield has mag rebates often, large aftermarket support
Negative: HEAVY, grip saftey (subjective)
For the size, this is one heavy pistol. it shoots well and i haven't experienced any failures but i find i hardly carried it due to the weight.
I have both the xds and the 43, no issues with either, both about the same accuracy. the ads has a springier trigger I think but I am used to both. you won't go wrong with either one.
My recommendation is a s&w shield, or walther PPS. Both are great pistols
I've had pretty much all of them, however the one that fits ME the best is the R51. When I'm not carrying the G19, it's on my hip. Ergonomically it fits me well, has a good trigger and is very very accurate.
Next is the 43, blocky but reliable and as accurate as my 19.
But the R51 fits with whatever my daily dress is.
Shield is going to shoot most like a full size. You can't go wrong with any of today's options.
Shield or LC9s IMO because of price point compared to G43
