Re: Ruger SR1911 Commander
Since you have one of each (you lucky bastard ), how much difference is there in muzzle flip between the two? I only ask 'cause my carry mid-size (ATI, BTW) is resprung with a recoil buffer and it is sweet compared to some of my stock, 5" rides.
Re: Ruger SR1911 Commander
Your Ruger SR1911 is a very nice firearm. Excellent purchase.
I have a government model Kimber Crimson Carry II and I've been looking to add
a .45 Commander/Officer model to my collection. After seeing your SR1911, I'm going to take a closer look at it and do some research on it in the hopes of maybe getting one in the future.
What type of sights do they come with? Are they Novak?

I didn't shoot them side by side but I don't recall any significant difference. I'll have another range day this week and will do a comparison and will post in this thread....

They are 3 dot novak style, unknown if they are made by Novak or licensed and made by Ruger. The rear sight is marked "Novak's". There is a thread on Sigforum.com right now where Rolan_Kraps has one of the new commander's and the front sight sheared in half during a range session. Here's the pic from his thread over there:

Well known shooter and gunsmith Bruce Gray believes they are Novak licensed but produced by Ruger or a 3rd party. He states that they were most likely damaged during installation.
