I have FTD – Firearms Training Deficiency.
Hello....my name is Gary in Pennsylvania and I have Firearms Training Deficiency.
I'm guilty.
I have learned so much from all of you here on PAFOA....I really appreciate you and this site as a resource.
But the most valuable takeaway I have from you all is that I now know what I don't know.
Without this site, I'd never know how critical firearms courses/training is. (To include retention training - especially since I OC).
I don't know NEARLY what I should about my firearm....How it is best deployed.....Situation/threat management...etc.
Please, I’d like this thread to be a place where you can post links/names of training sites, seminars, classes, etc HERE IN PENNSYLVANIA.
Share the names of your books and manuals. What has helped you become a better, safer armed citizen?
Tell us – which, if any, training was a real eye-opener?
And which classes should the novice armed citizen begin with?
I know that bits and pieces of this have been discussed on the site before……but it gets lost in the history.
With how critical training is…..maybe this thread, or even a new appropriately titled one, can be stickied?
Keep the arguing out. This thread is the toolbox. Your contributions are the tools. As for the who/what/when/where/why disagreements regarding the tools? ----Take ‘em to a new thread.
Thanks for helping to free me of the “Mire of FTD”!
Re: I have FTD – Firearms Training Deficiency.
Ahhhhh.....
Goes to show where I spend MOST of my time in PAFOA.
I just scrolled down the main page and saw it here:

My bad.
I'll work on the cure in there.

1. NE PA is not exactly a hub, but you have:

-- has a perfect starting course in Topton in May, then more advanced courses in Wellsboro in September.
2. Plenty of training in Harrisburg, if you want to drive there:

3. Jeff Gonzales brings his Combative Pistol 1 to the region about once a year:

Gary,
KINGCOR is teaching the NRA Personal Protection Outside The Home Training Course on Sunday April 6, 13, and 20 at The Matamoras Rod And Gun Club.
This is a 14 hour NRA approved program and will be 7 hours on the 6th and 13th, and the 20th will be about a 1-1/2 hour lesson on the legal aspects of concealed carry and self-defense conducted by an attorney.
