Good thing it's 3.5 hours plus from you, lol.
Probably a pipe dream to think it's going to stay under even $600.

That would make the perfect companion to my circa 1960s K38 Masterpiece! Thinking on it a bit I wish S&W would go back to their "old" name system instead of the damn Model Nos! Much more descriptive!

I'm sure you realize this, but the Model 15's maintained the name K-38 Combat Masterpiece, just as the Model 17's maintain the name K-22 Masterpiece, so you're not incorrect by referring to them as such.
Also, I'm sure you're aware, but if your K-38 is from the "1960's", it is a Model 15, as the change to Model numbers, by S&W, took place in 1957.

H&R Sportsman Model 999's are still around and they are excellent shooters. They came in 4 and 6 in barrel lengths and are top break-open 8 round.

Inside of the crane says Model 14-3. It has a pinned barrel, but not recessed chambers I bought it used in 1971s, in fact it was my first handgun after getting my NYS license.
Re: .22 Rimfire Revolvers
My mistake, I thought you said K-38 Combat Masterpiece, which is the Model 15; as you state, the K-38 Masterpiece is, of course the Model 14.
S&W didn't recess cylinders on .38's, only on magnums and rim fires.
Sounds like a great revolver, enjoy!

I have been for 49 years! At one time that was my competition piece for NRA Conventional Pistol centerfire matches. I even have a set of Herret's custom grips for it.

Stopped by Tanners yesterday for some ammo, and wound up walking out with a Wrangler, 189 price tag.
For you weird gun aficionados, they have a heritage 22 revolver with a 16" barrel for around 300. Almost bought the damn thing for ha ha's, since I would have zero practical use for it.
