HI, permit and cc questions
I've read a bit , just wanna make sure. To apply in Franklin county for a weapons permit and cc requires said person to apply at court house with a fee of 30 dollars. Upon approval you'll get a license similar to a drivers licence?
Is there a required , safety coarse to receive a permit/license?
in a VIC, you can carry a loaded weapon same as carry?
Plus do I have to be there in person to Apply, I'm military stationed overseas, still holding Pa resident ship.

I'm going to take a guess that English is not your primary language. Which is ok, so I'm gonna try to decipher what you're asking.
Yes, you'd need to go the Sheriff's office in the county of which you reside. The fee should only be $20, if they're charging more than that, then they're breaking the law.
You'll need to fill out a form there and include two references, they do not have to reside in the same county as you.
If you're in a vehicle, you may carry a loaded FIREARM as defined in the Uniform Firearms Act once you have your License to Carry Firearm. You may not ever carry a loaded Long gun, like a shotgun or rifle in a vehicle.
Welcome to the forum.
Re: HI, permit and cc questions
Apparently there were grammar mistakes, English is my first language, I just don't care much about proper grammar on the internet, short hand works well.
Thanks for the reply.
Re: HI, permit and cc questions
I noticed your emphasis on Firearm, is this opposed to me using the term weapon?

Firearms are specifically defined in the UFA, you may want to read it.

Re: HI, permit and cc questions
In the past, some counties would issue by mail, but as of April 2011, it became necessary to apply in person with the new system they began using. They have to electronically capture your signature and also take your photo and enter it into the system.
Re: HI, permit and cc questions
Its been over a year ago since I got my LTCF (License to carry a firearm) in Franklin co. so hopefully my information isnt outdated.
You go to the sheriff's dept in Chambersburg (its on 30).
Have your PA driver's license with you (with a Franklin co address on it)
Fill out the LTCF form with two references (Franklin co hasnt been making a big deal out of the residence of the references like some counties have. My references were both out of state).
You will give them a check or cash of $5, a copy of your drivers license and the application form. You will go home and wait for them to mail you a slip of paper that says you were either denied or approved.
You will need to make a second trip to the sheriff's dept. to get your picture taken and get your license, they will want $15 more. Took me about a week to get approved.
Im not sure but I think you can mail your application in with the money but you still need to show up in person for the photo and to sign your card. If you want to be a little ahead of the game, go to Franklin co website and download the form and fill it out before you go the sheriff's office.
EDIT: Here is everything you need to know:

Franklin county does issue the newer LTCF that has a photo, is laminated and looks like a drivers license. They will make it up while you sit there and wait.
Re: HI, permit and cc questions
..and the newer laminated cards are nicer than what we used to get..
