So how are you all removing said anus?
Cut around the anus on the exterior of the deer to disconnect it from the hide and then pull it through the pelvis from the inside. Some people tie a string around the “tube” (rectum?) before pulling it through to prevent any waste spilling out. As I mentioned earlier, it sounds fairly simple. In reality, getting the rectum freed cleanly from the hide can be tricky. Either way, the goal is to get the remaining piece of organ out of the animal, leaving just meat and bone.
Some folks split the pelvis so that you can just lift the organ out. I don’t do that to reduce the amount of dirt the carcass picks up dragging it out.
Everybody has their own way and I dont know that one way is better than another.
