+1 on wobbly adjustable battle stocks. My first CAA was a hundred bucks (2009) and it sucks. I have another, forget the brand, that is a little better. That's on the do-everything if the SHTF gun. My more expensive AR has an A2 on it. Wobbly stock drove me nuts while working up loads on the bench.
Magpul slimline doesn't wobble.
I'll look for one. Thanks :-)
I took some pics yesterday so here are updated pics of this carbine.
I believe it will live out the rest of it's days in this configuration.
I don't think I'm going to worry about installing the YHM hand guard shown at the beginning of the thread - the basic hand guards are lightweight and are all I need. Plus I like the overall "classic" look that the carbine now has.
Red dot removed for use on another gun and replaced with a Colt take off carry handle.
Gear Sector 2-point sling added. So far, so good. I really like the weight, softness, and flexibility of it right out of the package.
The quick detach ends allow for multiple methods of attaching to carbines. You can even buy the ends alone, mount them on assorted rifles and snap one sling on/off between them.

With a smaller sibling. (which is now wearing the red dot until I can get a better one - then this one goes on the 9mm carbine)

During the Memorial Day sale frenzy I picked up this ALG Defense Sidewinder brake (foreground) for $35 shipped and I'm going to put it on this carbine.

I was taking pics of the VG6 Epsilon (on pencil barrel in pic) and threw the Sidewinder in for a comparison shot.

Can't wait to try it out.
I never did post a pic with the Sidewinder brake installed. Probably because Photobucket had everything screwed up for so long.
I guess this will do for now...

One last look before it gets a makeover.
I thought this carbine was going to stay this way forever, but it seems to be in a constant state of change!
Plans now are for me to swap out the MFT Minimalist stock and the Hogue grip (as well as the handguard) and use those two parts on a new build.
I picked up a Matrix hydro dipped Magpul set in Kryptek Typhon camo dirt cheap and I'll be putting that furniture set on this carbine.

Have fun getting the minimalist off. It puts up a good fight. Lol
I have the perfect solution - I'll just take this entire lower for the new build!!! HA!
I forgot that this carbine has the RRA 2 Stage trigger and since this one is effectively billed as a "basic SHTF" gun, I'll put this lower on the new gun and use the lower I have sitting here for this one.
Wait - does doing that make THIS gun the OTHER gun then? Ha!
Yeah - I still mostly try to avoid Magpul, but these Matrix kits were SO inexpensive, I couldn't say no.
The MOE stock SUCKS compared to the MFT Minimalist, but it will do for the time being.
Who knows, maybe down the road this new Magpul furniture will end up on a different rifle and I'll transform this one back to it's "original" configuration? Heh.
It's like playing with LEGOS!
