REMINDER: Pike FoNRA Dinner - 5/2 (Wednesday) 5:30

Howdy, folks!

Just wanted to post a reminder about the date for the upcoming Pike County Friends of NRA Banquet.

For those of you who are not familiar with the NRA Foundation, please let me correct a possible misconception.

The money raised from these events does NOT go to the NRA you may be thinking of. The funds raised through NRA Foundation are separate and distinct and - by law - cannot be transferred to anywhere else.

Like many large organizations, NRA has a couple 'divisions'. The main body of NRA that most of America is familiar with, is involved with membership benefits, public relations, safety training and so on. And of course, NRA-ILA focuses on political activity to prevent bad laws and promote good ones.

However, those two things are for us, here, right now, in our lifetime.

If we lose the next generation, we lose it all.

NRA Foundation is all about preserving the future of our legacy and traditions. It focuses on programs mostly for YOUTH to get them involved in the shooting sports, learning about responsible gun ownership and instilling in them a sense of the importance of our 2nd Amendment.

100% of the proceeds are distributed back to hands-on programs for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4H, High School teams and to fund National competitions so our kids have something to look forward to, and aspire to in the way of personal achievement.

Remember, these kids will be voting soon.

So please, if you haven't already done so, grab a ticket and be prepared to spend generously at the banquet because that money all goes exactly to where it's supposed to. Unlike our tax dollars, these dollars really do make a difference.
