Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag (Wood Stocks or Pachmyer's?)
I didn't get the Python I was hoping for this year, but I did get the next best thing! A Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag! This gun is a tank! I love it...but I need to decide what looks better...the original wood Ruger stocks or oversize molded Pachmyer replacement stocks. Just curious to see what you guys think...
First, the original stocks...

I'm a sucker for wood. It looks great either way man, but if I had to say. Go with the wood!

No question that the wood looks better, but for comfort and function the pachmyer's would likely be a better choice.
Typical wheel gun plight...decisions...decisions.....:)
Enjoy your new toy.
Re: Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag (Wood Stocks or Pachmyer's?)
I've owned two Redhawks, both SS, a 7.5" & my current 5.5". I have large hands and those goofy grips Ruger sends with them just don't work for me. I had/have standard Pachmayrs on both. I tried Hogue's Monogrip but those were the suckiest rubbers I'd ever tried...they've been in my parts box for a decade now :D
As a brother owner of a Redhawk if you find the Pachmayrs to be not quite right shoot me a pm and I'll send this monogrip out to ya...might fit your hand better than mine.
Re: Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag (Wood Stocks or Pachmyer's?)
It's all about the wood. Those pachmyers are FUGLY! I would only put them on if the wood grips are uncomfortable to shoot with.

Have to go with the wood! I've always thought that the wood makes the gun!

Even I voted wood, and that odd for me :)
Yet again, another great picture!
Re: Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag (Wood Stocks or Pachmyer's?)
not normally a fan of the goodyears, but being that it's a 44mag and stainless. i'd let the rubber on.
be a lot more comfy to shoot.
Re: Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag (Wood Stocks or Pachmyer's?)
I had a hard time with this one but I settled on wood.
I like the wood for appearance and I'm certain the Pachmyer would be a lot better for function.
If you know you're going out for a day of heavy use it only takes a few minutes to change the grips. For occasional light use and showing it off to friends I'd leave the wood in place.
What really surprises me here is the reversal of opinions of Fr0sty and brian.

This might work for me-that's a Tyler TGrip; those old-school Security~Six style stocks never were very comfortable, maybe that's why Ruger discontinued them with the GP series..
