Carrying as a state employee!

This is the only job I could find: I will be saving up to move to a better neighborhood an get a car, but first I need to work.

I'm getting a keltec pf9 and will be concealing it well, so I doubt I will ever be discovered. But if the state somehow finds out I have a firearm, what is the worst they can do? Can I face criminal charges? Please let me know. Thank you.

Edit: please don't tell me not to work there. I've been unemployed since I graduated college and haven't even been able to get a job at McDonald's or walmart. Also, please don't tell me not to carry. I will be murdered if I do not. And please don't tell me to move to a better area, I would if I could but I don't have the money. Trust me, if there were other options I'd take them.

You don't have it bad being white there as by all statistics show, if you were black between 17-35 you'd be in GREAT danger of being killed! Actually being white kinda helps you because no one around there is going to want the whole police dept & media To kick in every door stop everybody & frisk, abuse, & terrify the whole area because some black person killed a All American white boy! They might harass you but they are not that stupid!!

Not to turn it into a race issue, but before I got my LTC I was attacked 3 times within 9 months by groups of 2-4 black dudes between late teens and early 20s. All 3 times I was walking home minding my own business when, all 3 times, they would walk behind me very quickly and then sucker punch me in the head. I was actually knocked unconscious during hurricane sandy because it was raining out (so I couldn't hear well) and had a hood up to keep dry (didn't have peripheral vision). The two times I was conscious they repeatedly called me a white boy in a very murderous tone and said f you white boy get out of this hood, etc. Two of the times I was able to run away after they started punching me.

I've had this happen twice since I started carrying, each time I pulled my firearm after retreating about 5+ meters and they simply ran away. Every time it was made clear to me I was being attacked because I was white. And the experiences I had when I went to Drexel... I could go on.

Your employeer should have a handbook etc of rules of while on the job on their property on their business etc...

My bet would be they dont allow weapons within buildings etc, but if your life depends on it, carry and dont ever ever mention a word to anyone...almost go as far as deleting this thread given its a state agency etc...

Curious as to what 5701 training is and who administers it?

My cousin graduated from IUP with a criminal justice degree and worked as a field investigator for the Pennsylvania Crime Commission back in the day and was never issued a weapon.

This is good advice. I would also add that you could run into legal issues if it is a written out policy, you get caught violating it, and the employer wants to make an issue out of it. Just like anywhere else, they have a right to say what you can and can't bring onto their property, even if you don't agree with it.

As far as an employer goes, its likely they can only fire you.. unless you end up (as a consequence of your employment) entering a place that is prohibited (school, courthouse, police station, Federal Building, etc.) without turning it in - remember, most prohibited places aren't required by law to have a turn-in location, so if you don't have a car to leave it in you might end up getting screwed.. Since you're not a Peace Officer, you're LTCF will not cover you in that scenario..

That being said, when I worked in the Civilian Sector, I always carried in violation of my employers policy and just took the risk of being caught and fired - I did, however, have to be more aware of what days I had to go to court and make sure I didn't carry then so no one would have to see me turn it in..

What is BNI?

I work in Chester often. Sometimes in the dark, or in the middle of the night - alone. I've been in the worst areas of that toilet alone. I am strictly forbidden to carry a firearm while on duty - so I really don't have any options, except QUITTING, of course.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has never had a title of "Field Investigator" Biologist, Food and cover workers, Admin people WCO's DWCO"s or as they were called back in the day Game Protectors. Everyone involved with investigations is and always has been armed.

You were not a Special Agent as you claim in your first post. Interns do NOT become special agents, nor can you carry a gun for state employment with the AG's office, PGC, PSP or PF&BC until you are 21, you claimed you were 20. Sorry but that dog dont hunt. I have worked for the state as a L.E. Officer for the last 12 years.

You have had an exciting road leading up the government giving you a gun to carry for work.

She worked for the Pennsylvania Crime Commission. Not sure where you got the word game from? They investigated organized crime and there was a report published in book form after the investigation was complete in 1980. She is listed in the book as a field investigator. It can still be found in some libraries if you look under.:

Because in these difficult times, I don't feel that I could find another job, with the pay and benefits I currently have. The other thing is, they're mostly cowards. Not saying I'm Chuck Norris, but I stand up when absolutely necessary without worrying that I'm going to get fired for it. If i were to get shot, chances are it would be wrong place, wrong time (and no one can predict that before it happens). There are just too many variables with my job to have to worry about constantly hiding it. I guess I just haven't convinced myself that I want to go forward yet. Maybe in time...but I doubt it.
