Clay Target Holders For Shotguning!
My brother in law and I have a set of steelbird stands, they're fine if all you ever shoot them with is birdshot but they break if you hit them with anything else and the price went from $25 to $37. Instead of replacing those because they are certainly NOT worth nearly $4 each, I've been looking at a few others. What are you guys using for shooting clays?
Steelbird, not recommended.

I bought 10 of these tonight, we'll see how they work. $8 for a 5 pack compared to $37 for 10 of the others ...

These are interesting as well. Set up kind of like a dueling tree for clays. Seem to be spaced far enough from one another to use with a shotgun. I may get a set of these. Two stakes at the bottom so they won't rotate!

I made a bunch of these years ago and they still work great.

Why are you using a shotgun for immobile clays?

They are great for guys who have semi auto mag fed shotguns. I shoot thrown clays too.

Piece of rebar and a rubber band works fine

It's a great way to get new shooters able to figure out what the sight picture looks like on a shotgun without having also track a moving Target.

For that training, for the first 3 or 4 rounds, I would use a couple of pieces of large cardboard (pizza boxes?) and either trace the clay in the middle or tape one onto the cardboard.
That way they also get to see the pattern and relate that to the sight picture.

We do that too.
The clay on a stick provides a bit more visual feedback as to whether or not they're hit was on target.

... because they disintegrate and it's fun ... That and any every other cartridge I've fired at them but 12 gauge birdshot will destroy the stand if you don't aim perfectly.
