I thought the Maverick was a Moosberg 500?
I thought the Maverick was a Moosberg 500? Whats the major difference I like both shotgun I bought a Maverick its convert to a combat shoot gun dual loadling slide, extended cylinder mag from 5 to 7 or 8. Flip down rear rifle sights and a rifle front post, polymer stock and pump grip. I only added the extended mag and ammo sling looks ready.
Its not as smooth as a Rem 870 but it can do just about everything the 870 can do, in my training. I've shot hundreds of rounds through it.

No personal experience, but I recall reading this recent post ...

Re: I thought the Maverick was a Moosberg 500?
I've owned all 3 (500, Maverick and 870). Major difference is the position of the safety, near the trigger guard as opposed to on top of the shotgun. Other than that, its technically made in Mexico and assembled in the USA. That's about it in terms of functional differences... Just be aware that not all parts designed for the M500 will fit the M88, and vise versa. If I remember right the foregrips are not interchangeable between the two.
Been awhile since I've had mine, but as my first 12g (and my first NIB firearm) it really preformed well and started my love affair with shotguns.
