The letter will do no good whatsoever.
If it does any good, it will only happen if he reads it, which he won't. Your best bet is a short one, maximum two sentences.
One sentence tells who you are
"I am a law abiding disabled veteran of the United States Armed Forces."
Second Sentence tells him what you want.
"Stop playing stupid games with my gun rights."
That's all. Even so, it won't get to his desk, let alone be read. The longer it goes the less likely to be read. The only thing they are going to pay attention to is what makes the news.
The only common people making the news are angry mobs.
Polite, detailed, and well-written letters do absolutely nothing. Maybe if you get it printed in a major newspaper.

Columnist posted in todays' Sunday issue of responses to his anti-gun article he posted last week, making much of some resorting to foul language. What did he expect when he lies to the readers about the "correct interpretation" of the 2nd amendment?
Wife asked if I was going to respond. Hell no...anyone with a brain knows he is wrong, the rest won't change their "minds", and the paper thrives on controversy. I'm not going to help him keep his job.
