This is poorly written and there is a lack of details. I also understand it was a shotgun, not a rifle.

RANSOM TWP. - A Clarks Summit man was charged with aggravated assault and other counts after he admitted to police he shot a man who was hunting Saturday.
State police said Joseph James Taft, 22, was arrested after the victim, Henry Krieg, 41, of Scranton, reported that Mr. Taft shot him in the face with a rifle near the tree line at 2651 Ransom Road about 7:30 a.m.
Mr. Krieg hid in the woods and called police, who said he was bleeding from a face wound when they found him. Police said Mr. Taft told them he shot Mr. Krieg because he was upset someone was hunting "their deer."
Mr. Taft's bail information was not available.

Re: Clarks Summit man accused of shooting hunter
This is probably the primary reason I haven't seriously looked into hunting. Too many idiots out there shooting at anything that moves.

Like the OP says, not much to go on from this crappy article, but it doesn't appear to be a hunting accident. More like attempted murder.
Re: Clarks Summit man accused of shooting hunter
I'm going with Shodan at this point. First situation sounds like an anti hunter attacking a hunter and the second sounds like somebody doesn't like folks spot lighting on their property. Neither strikes me as proof of hunters making poor decisions and shooting each other.

I'd have a hard time believing this was an accidental shooting by a hunter... Shooting at things that move because they heard a noise in the brush is one thing... but shinning a bright fucking light is something totally different...;)

Wow. They are both lucky they didn't get killed, and I am glad the hunter's injuries weren't severe. I hope the LSM doesn't bend this to make all gun owners and hunters evil...
