The strangest sight
I witnessed the most unusual sight on Saturday. I was traveling west on Rt 30 going through Gettysburg and after going through the square, all the traffic slowed and some started going over the yellow line. Well here comes a small doe down the sidewalk at a full gallop. I had the windows up but you could hear her hooves clicking on the concrete and she was hauling ass weaving through all the shoppers. It looked like something out of Hollywood.

Re: The strangest sight
I lived in Gettysburg for a year, and the deer aren't ENTIRELY stupid. As soon as hunting season begins, they all make a beeline for the Battlefield, where it's illegal to hunt.
It's kinda eerie on a "nice" day in January (say, 40 degrees, overcast, and no wind), to be alone on the battlefield, and hear the Park Service sharpshooters off in the distance thinning out the herd! Being a 9th generation Tarheel myself, my first thought was, "Damn YANKEES are STILL at it!" http://www.getsmileyface.com/sm/evil/498.gif
They take the meat to local processors and then give it to local foodbanks & homeless shelters, which is a nice thing.

Re: The strangest sight
Naaaa, they haven't shot them for years and when they did, it happened at night. Now they use sterility drugs but I can't understand how only the deer get the drugs.

Re: The strangest sight
Im not sure how true it is but my step mom told me that they where supposed to donate the meat, but a jogger found a mass grave of deer from these sharp shooters...not sure how true it is.
