with any orginized event you want to have a clean clear consistant and consise message.

Also, it is important to not send any mixed messages with people having signs about other topics, or political canidates.

Do one thing, and do it well.

I agree entirely with Shawn. The event is about our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Those that have gone to the effort to organize this rally have put their good names and reputation on the line for all of us.

Probably most of us are aware of the use of the "tree of liberty" sign at one of these rallies in the past. After that rally, what did you see in the papers? Articles about law-abiding gun owners engaged in the political process? Serious inquiries into the effectiveness of gun control laws? Nope, for the most part you saw discussions of racism, slavery, lynching, etc. All that hard work, all that time and effort, ended up being used for PR for the OTHER side of the issue...

We have to remember that in the political arena, we are dealing with more than just elected officials. We are dealing with public perception. The media wants to paint us as rubes and hillbillys whose elevators stop about two floors shy of the top of the building. Irresponsible - yes, irresponsible - actions play into that stereotype. Are we held to a higher standard? Yes, we are. Is that right? Nope, but that doesn't really matter, does it? It's reality, whether we like it or not. We have to stay focused on the topic of the rally.

If you want to address your legislators or hold a rally about illegal immigration, taxes, the price of mustard, whatever - have at it, just not on that day. Don't dilute the message and don't do anything stupid. The media will do its best to ignore and belittle us, for goodness sake don't make it easy for them.

Sadly, these important threads rarely generate much traffic.

people could always just post " I'm going!" or "cant make it" and it would get you a post just like word association.

Any chance on getting a banner for this event into the rotation? Maybe linked to this thread to bring in some more traffic?

I'm also going to officially attempt to indirectly bribe everyone into coming. I can't provide hundreds of hats, t-shirts and meal vouchers like the anti's do to bring people in, but...

I will donate $2 to PAFOA for every member that comes to the rally on April 7.

If we can get 20 people to come to a hearing, getting at least 50 PAFOA members to show up for an event this important should be easy. Come on guys (and gals)....make me PAY!
