I would think that for ankle carry, the lighter the gun, the more comfortable it would be. Thus, the airweights. The SP101 is a great pistol. I've shot one that my son owns and it is a fine weapon. The advantage of being able to load magmums is a good feature to having a .357. Still, I'd be more inclined to look seriously at the lighter gun for the particular style of carry you wish to do.

Carrying a Glock 37, statie? My friend is a Trooper and he likes the 45 Gap. What you say about the caliber?

And for the revolver, the new Ruger LCR is pretty interesting. Nice and light, almost as light as a scandium S&W at half the price (well, little over half). It has a good trigger too, better than the S&W 642 that I carry in my pocket everyday.

Course this is just my opinion, and we all know about opinions....

If I were to wear one on ankle it would be Ruger LCR or Taurus 85 . Nothing heavier on ankle .

Just watch 85 is the basic model number for Taurus Snub revolvers. The one I have is an ultralite model 85 which is around 5 ounces lighter than the steel model 85. I cannot vouch for any of their semis but Taurus makes one decent revolver.

The S&W 442.
It's my backup and sometimes my primary.
38special only.

Thanks Dave. I like the idea of being able to cock the gun.

For a BUG? You can't go far wrong with *any* of the "+P rated" S&W J-frames in .38 Special - really.

They are all pretty darn light weight (the differences in weight among them aren't all that much). They are all very concealable (which is commonly the major secondary concern for a BUG, even if you Openly Carry your primary). They are *very simplistic* in their operation. They are about the most reliable handguns on the freak'n planet! Also, they are surprisingly accurate.

Carry an S&W J-frame with either 110gr. or 125gr. jacketed/semi-jacketed hollow-points that are loaded/rated +P (or Black Hills or Cor-Bon factory ammo). Get the right grips for it - ones that suit you and your needs. Then you've got yourself a serious, (potentially) "life-saving" BUG!

Personally, I wouldn't feel inadequately armed with carrying just this handgun alone!

Me? I'm very much on the 'big and tall' side, so carrying/concealing a Ruger SP101 is a whole lot easier for me than it would be for most people. And that's what I do. YMMV.
