Default I got a question for our resident "Glock Headz"

I was at the range the other day and after letting off about 60 or so rounds, I encountered something weird (to me at least)...

I loaded up my next set of magz and started a new target, the first few shots hit and then about the 4th bullet, I pulled the trigger and nothing happened. I pulled the slide back, the bullet popped out, I let the slide go forward and I was able to empty the rest of the mag.

This happened several times after reloading the magz for the next targets ( like 2-3 times)...

Why would this happen?

I am using a brand new G19 ( that I got a month ago) and I'm firing Winchester 115 gr FMJ practice ammo..

I am a little worried because this is my carry piece and don't want this to happen at the wrong time...

Is this part of breaking in the pistol?

Can anyone explain this to me?

All input is always appreciated !

I'm far from an expert on the matter, but my initial feeling is a hard primer, although I've personally only experienced this with Wolf 9mm ammo.

did the trigger itself feel right, almost like if you dry fired it? or when you pulled it was there no "click"?

The trigger felt fine, it didn't feel any different.

It felt like I dry fire.

i'd say go and get a few diff kinds of ammo, hit the range and hopefully it will turn out to just be some bad ammo...

did the bullets that didnt fire have a mark from the firing pin?

When I pulled the slide back, the bullets went over the stall towards the target area and I could not go back there.

What other types of ammo are recommend for a 9mm other than the Winchester I have been using that won't break my pocket?

I've been paying $10 bucks for a box of 50.

i dont own a 9mm, but i use american eagle alot for 45 and 10mm, its as cheap as you can get for those 2 calibers so i'd assume its the same with 9mm.. pretty much anything thats FMJ and cheap for target shooting IMO.. hopefully you just got a bad batch of ammo, if it happens again, take out the mag, and move the slide back slower so the bullet doesnt go flying and take a look and see if its getting striked by the firing pin or not..... has it ever happened to you before that particular box of ammo?

I had the same problem with my old Glock 21 when it got really dirty.

Try spraying the striker channel in the slide with Gun Scrubber and let it air dry. Just stick the straw in the little hole in the underside of the slide and give it a good blast. Don't lube the striker. Sometimes some crud gets in there which impedes the striker and causes light strikes on the primer.

I happened once, when I put the first 50 through it.

Then it happened 2-3 times the next 100 bullets I put through it.

I thought it was just part of the "breaking in" process.

I'm going to the range next week, I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.

Did you clean it before you shot it the first time? Some of that copper colored grease that they coat the slide rails with may have gotten up in there and is slowing down your striker.

It could just be hard primers too. Try some different ammo on your next range trip and see if that solves the problem.

CCI Blazers are pretty cheap. Just buy a box or two to see if your problems are ammo related.
