Lisa,
If you *do* decide on a .45 LC revolver, get yourself a .45 LC Lee Loader cheap (like $15-25 from ebay) and reload your own cartridges - much cheaper in the long run.

Thought about this, too. Now I really have my homework to do.

uberti is big into "cowboy" guns and has quite the line of them.
i have a few of their 1873 pistols, and really like them. looking into getting one of their long guns next....in .45colt
they are almost a dead ringer for the peace maker, both in form and function.
i have one of the rugers and it just did'nt do it for me, it's function is only slightly similar to the colt pattern.

Consider a dual cylinder Ruger. .45 Colt for when the urge strikes you, but the .45 ACP cylinder to keep shooting cost down. Just a thought.

Adios,

Pizza Bob
I don't know if .45 acp could ever be a candidate to 'keep shooting cost down.'

Reloading I think is the only reasonable option here. Reloading .45 acp still halves the cost of buying factory acp rounds. Reloading .45 lc will be marginally more expensive then acp because of the increased bullet weight (material cost). 45lc brass will also be more expensive, but consider trimming 454 casuall brass down to size and use it longer with the increased case wall thickness.

Personally, I like the Ruger Redhawk Convertibles. You can load some hot ruger .45 lc loads following the already published data. Put the .45 acp cylinder in and push the limits of that cartridge too with the over built frame- or just enjoy the extra safety margin.

My only complaint is the convertible ruger redhawk is not offered in stainless.

Mine is a Beretta Stampede in .45LC

I haven't shot it yet. (tight budget) I may shoot it this weekend, we'll see.

Go with the Ruger's, they're built like a tank, and will keep on shooting for a long time.

Here's my pair:
