What to get for my 21st birthday? /First Pistol

So my 21st is coming up. I will legally be able to buy my first pistol, this will also be my first pistol. Honestly I have never shot a handgun before, that I can recall. I know that alot of people say you should go shoot some different types of pistols first to see what you like, but I don't know anyone around me that has a variety of handguns. I have a narrowed list of pistols I have been researching.

1. XDm 9mm
2. Glock 22
3. Beretta M9

Also I should probably add this in maybe someone would know. My birthday is on November 19th and I happen to be going down to Stroudsburg on the day before. I rarely go down to Stroudsburg because Iam always working so am I able to drop off my LTCF the day before my birthday to save myself a trip?

I'd go with the XDM 9. In fact, as soon as I can afford to buy another pistol, after I get my 6920, I likely will get one.

The best advice I can give you, is that you should try to shoot examples of each of the pistols you're interested in, and see which one you like best.

I was looking at a similar list, I just turned 21. I ended up with an HK USP, it is just an amazingly nice firearm. The quality is something that either you notice or you dont and this has it in spades. I wanted my first to be special because I plan to keep it and shoot it for the rest of my life. My suggestion would be to get something a little different because everyone has a glock/XD and to consider something that you wouldn't normally go for. Just my opinion, I hope everything works out for you!

The top three guns that I would recommend for you to get to allow you to become a better shooter faster and easier would be:

1. Glock 9mm (19 or 17)
2. Springfield XD 4" in 9mm
3. S&W M&P 4" 9mm

My first pistol was a Beretta NEOS 22LR. I would suggest something like that to get used to pop first. I then got a Beretta PX4 9MM. the NEOS can be had for 250 to 300 & .22 ammo is the cheapest around. you can shoot a .22 all day for about 30 bucks.

It's hard for anyone else but yourself to pick one of these for yourself since you didn't give us any information. Two are 9mm and one is a .40. Personally I'd go with the Glock but not the 22 because I wouldn't want to carry the full size. Go with the G23. The .40 cal can put a man down with one shot, but the 9mm rounds just bounce off people.

Go to an indoor range that rents pistols and try a few out. There will be some that you just don't like how they feel/shoot and it would be better to find this out while renting.
