I just picked one up used. I got home and dry fired it to check the trigger pull (my dealer requests that you don't dry fire his guns). Checked double action, then single action, decocked it and played with it some more. Then I took notice to the slide mounted safety, currently IN THE SAFE POSITION?? I moved the safety to fire, trigger broke clean, moved it back to safe and the trigger broke clean...
Bummer! Anyone have suggestions before contacting Sig? |

Does the safety block the firing pin only, not the hammer? I know of several SA/DA guns with slide mounted safeties that will drop the hammer with the safety on, but the firing pin is protected. I would find out before you take it back.

Contact the dealer that sold you the gun. Since it was used, they'll probably tell you to call Sig.
Good luck - hope it gets resolved.

what he said... the walther p22 does the same thing. put a round in it and try firing it with the safety on, that should tell you whats going on.

joe smith and bogey1,
It appears that you are both correct. It also appears that I jumped the gun (bad pun) on thinking something was wrong. I should have sat down and looked closer before thinking the world was ending ...Thanks guys. |

I wouldn't buy one without first gettting permission to dry fire a couple of times at least. I know that this isn't the intent of your thread but your comment got my interest.
If a dealer is hesitant I just explain that I am close to buying the particular gun in question and that I need that data (trigger pull weight, creep, etc.) to seal the deal. At the very least the shop owner should have some snap caps available for serious customers. In the end, if the seller refused to let me dry fire I would just go somewhere else. Glad it worked out for you in the end.
