Default Another annoying hypothetical

I apologize in advance for this, I just need a push in the right direction. You have an AK or two and your carry/home defense gun is a .45acp with 7+1 capacity. You have a good bit of ammo and mags for each. You have 1K to play with. Do you get a Glock 21/30 and a shit load of mags and ammo, or spring for a really high end AK? Heres where I'm split right now: Since I have a shotgun in my closet the pistol is used for carry only and just in case I don't have 15 seconds to get my shit together in the home defense situation. The AK is way more fun/useful for range SHTF situation and the more the merrier, right? Whats holding me back is that I only have one pistol!! I mean, I should have more than one pistol, right?!?! I know I sound like a liberal right now, but please somebody just tell me what to do so I don't have to think for myself!!!

PS- I already thought of the "WASR and used Glock" scenario. Works out on paper, but I think I'd be unsatified with 2 items instead of really happy about 1.

XD45, 13+1. A nice addition to your "arsenal".

I'll take that as a G21 vote!! Ha, I do like XD's, I'm just so freaking comfortable with the Glock platform. I'm one of those freaks that the grip angle is natural for while others feel bizarre. You know how asians used to bind their feet when young? I'm convinced my Dad duct taped a Glock in my hand so they would grow into my muscle memory!

I don't really understand the point behind a high end AK. Might as well be getting a high end garbage truck..

Hmmm, not a bad idea since you are staying with the same caliber. It allows you to basically double your carry or bedside load and stock up with a couple cases of ammo.

You already have AK's and you can always add quality rifles in the future. It is something to consider that you can buy a quality AK at very good prices currently, so its not out of reason to take advantage of great pricing while you can.

Sell one of your AKs, buy the AK you want and a second handgun.

Glock 21sf = 13+1 .45acp (had to do it)

I would recommend going with the Glock, plus extra magazines and ammo. 7+1 is good for carry but I switched from a 1911 platform to the Glock 21sf for the greater capacity (Glocks are extremely rugged and reliable too).

Since you have 1-2 AKs and a shotgun, I would steer toward the handgun.

What about a smaller concealable 9mm like a Glock 19 or 26?

Its a tough one. My Rambo side says "more AKs More better" especially at the current price available, but its just bothering me only having one pistol right now!! I have never thought I had much practical use for a handgun, aside from one that I can carry and/or will get me to my shotgun if need be. I quess I'm just rethinking that a little and wondering if a higher-cap .45 shouldn't be at the top of the list.

I love Glocks as well. I ended up with my current pistol (which I love by the way) because it is single stack and I carry IWB 90% of the time. Plus, its a looker when it gets some OWB time! And, believe it or not, I can actually pocket it if need be! Heavy as shit, but with a belt it will work. I'm a pretty big guy, 5'10' 230lbs (not really fat per se, I like to call it "post-athletic"!) so hiding isn't too big an issue. Basically, it serves me on all fronts, I'm just starting to think having a bigger pistol would be nice.

As for the G19/G26 and AR ideas, I am really trying to stick to .45, x39, and 12 gauge right now. I DO have a Mosin, but a 440rnd tin should do me for years with that beast! Between mortgage, cars, holidays, vacations, private schools, etc. the thought of picking up a new platform and caliber gives me a agida!! Down the line maybe, right now if I end up with any extra fun money its going towards some classes. Those Vickers classes D90king posts pics of have me drooling!!!
