Just1more, its not so much age as it is the preference of the firearm. 22's can be really finicky about what they shoot well. Good quality ammuntion typically always shoots well, but you are looking at $5 and up for a box of 50. When I buy 22's and the pistol I am shooting is really accurate with them, I typically go back where I bought them as soon as possible to get more of the same lot number.
Good luck with your shooting. I have one of those revolvers and they are sweet!

Yes i do enjoy my 22! Out of curiosity as you have the same 22 - what ammo do you find works well with it?

I have the Model 63 with the 4" barrel. I use Federal bulk box, CCI Mini Mags, Remington bulk box and Winchester ammo in it. It shoots all four of those brands fair to well, never had a problem with it. There is better consistency with the Federal and CCI, though.

I actually bought this revolver years ago as a less expensive practice gun for what were then predominantly revolver action sports. Later as pin practice substitute for my Redhawk revolver.

Plus, it fits really well in my back pocket on a walk about.

think about it a second. you have a bore that has been "clogged" enough to damage lead rounds traveling down it.
so now try sending an fmj down it, at several hundred feet per second. the pressure is going to skyrocket.

Now that I know the problem was lead fouling, in future, if the bullet marks the target in slices, I will cease firing it and clean it up first. I have the 5in barrel and it cost the same as my smith 357 3in so i do want to take care of it!
Thanks for all the info.!
