I take it with me when I go collecting rent. Got 2 410 shells up front followed by the 45's!

If I wanted to shoot the 45 I would not get the Judge. I think it would be a great "fun" gun but uncertain about a hard core self defense gun. I wonder what the velocity loss in the short barrel Judge would be over a shotgun? Trust me, a 410 slug at short range, put in the "lights" will do the job.....from a shotgun.
This is not a shotgun, you are barely getting 5" penetration in gel with loads out of this short of a barrel.

You are better off with a .380 pocket pistol, honestly.

Cool Re: Taurus Judge 3"

This thread is relevant to my interests. I, too, suffer from many attacks by small woodland creatures on a regular basis an my regular method of hitting them with a stick is no longer as effective. I would, however, also advise against the purchase of this pistol. Instead, I would recommend you do what I did: Take the peanut butter out of your pants.

It is amazing how effective the results are! Now I can sit back with my .22 and plink these furry assailants with ease and comfort, instead of having the dastardly fiends gnawing on my loins every waking moment.

I have to agree that buying a 3" rifled barrel shotgun pistol doesn't make much sense. Is it that you really hate woodland creatures and want to dissolve them? I mean, you would have to get very, very close to really get a good hit on one with this pistol. Have you seen how sneaky those bastards are? It's like they can hear you coming! They are like fuzzy ninjas!

I hope my advice helps, edh47. I know that it has worked wonders for me.

Go for it! The gun's on my wishlist as well, I just seem to keep passing it up when something else catches my eye at the gunshop. Since you said you are going to use it for a fun gun, who cares whether it's good for defense or not? If (when) I get one, I will definitely go with the three inch cylinder. Why? Because it will shoot both 2 1/2 and 3" shells. Why not have the extra capability? Good luck with whatever you decide to do... and give us a range report if you get one!

Dekez,
Your advice is not relavent to anything I said. "Woodland creatures"??? What in the hell are you talking about Dakez? It sounds like you may have a bit of peanut butter still packed "in" deep dude.

I think I may have changed my mind.... Not about a Judge but about which model.

I saw the 2 1/2 inch cylinder version with a 6.5 inch barrel today. It looked like it would be absolutely sweet to shoot.

Just make sure you don't regret not getting the 3 inch cylinder later on. I know if I got a 2 1/2 inch cylinder version, I'd end up regretting not getting the version that could take both 2 1/2 and 3" shells......

Then again, I like to have my cake and eat it too

I think he was pointing out that shooting small game with a 20+" smooth bore barrel is not the same thing as shooting people with a 3" rifled barrel.

Just a guess, though.

I have that exact model. Given the choice, i would definitely take the 3 inch cylinder.
Also, it is sweet to shoot.

Oh man... I finally got to the gun shop and held the 2 Judges they had in my hands.

The 3" magnum with a 3" barrel was a heavy hunk of metal. The grip is excellent but the gun itself didn't feel right in my hands.

Now... the 2.5" cylinder 6.5" barreled alloy version... That felt like a whole different revolver to me. That's the one I want. No doubt.

I have small hands and that grip just molded into my palm and felt very secure.

No doubts... it's the one I want.
