^^^^^yup... like I said before.

You would be better of with .38 special... but it is less cleverly marketed.

Arrg.... I keep thinking about buying one.

Question.... Would the 2 1/2 inch cylinder or the 3 inch version be a better choice? I don't see much advantage to getting the 3 inch version. Only difference I can see is that it can fire the 3 inch .410 shotshells.

That is the difference. That means you can fire heavier shotshells. My judge can only fire the 3 ball buckshot, the 3 inch shells have 5.

Got it... 5 is better than 3.

I don't know why I'm obsessing about this pistol.

Sounds like you already made up your mind so go get it - if you're not blowing the rent and food budget - and have fun!

Nice to add to your collection... variety is the spice and all that.

Enjoy!

If I felt I had to have a Judge , it would be the 2 1/2 instead of 3 inch . That way the 45 wouldn't have such a long jump because that would be about all I would carry in it .

Not even thinking about the .410 shells it can carry, I'd like one for just the .45 Colt.

Does anyone know of another .45 Colt on the market that can be found. I can find a few single actions and know S&W made one a while back. As a camping, hiking, or hunting backup it's great, shot for snakes and .45 for anything bigger. A .38Spl. is better for HD, a full size shotgun is better for HD.

I have killed hundreds of rabbits and squirels with the 3 inch 410. My son and I have killed whitetails with the 410 3 inch slugs. Saiga make their shotgun in 410. I have no doubt that 410 slugs will stop a "bad guy". All of my experience with the 410 have been with the longer barrell shotguns. I don't know about the pistol length Judge. If I wanted to shoot the 45 I would not get the Judge. I think it would be a great "fun" gun but uncertain about a hard core self defense gun. I wonder what the velocity loss in the short barrel Judge would be over a shotgun? Trust me, a 410 slug at short range, put in the "lights" will do the job.....from a shotgun.

It's not something I'd carry for self defense personally but if you're confident it will do the job...have at it and get proficient with it.

I'm carrying a .38 spl now, and will likely move back to some "auto" caliber in the next 6 months (9mm,40,45).

I had that exact model. I bought it for fun use only. I shot it a few times at targets and clays and it was pretty fun, but I got bored with it fast. FWIW they have hardly any recoil and .45 colt is pretty expensive right now if you don't reload. Surprisingly accurate too with the .45's.
