PAHigh77, I think PSP are fools to spend taxpayer dollars on a caliber that has no street experience or ballistics. But hey we are talking about PA politics here. I am a more agreeable with them going to the Glock 21 .45 ACP, a combat proven caliber and pistol.

Well it's my understanding that the PSP is basically getting a buy one get one free from glock on this deal.

Also to offset cost the officers have the option to buy their service beretta for 250 bucks.

I agree, or lets hope so. The .45 ACP is top of the line for me.

Not sure why so much negative comments on this issue. The .45GAP is a great caliber, you can hardly tell the difference ballistics wise from the acp, its got less recoil so the women and minorities will have no problem shooting it. and its a glock! change isnt always bad.

You can't really compare the 10mm to the 45gap in the will it stay around catagory because the 45gap was designed as a less recoil round with the same hole size, where the 10mm was to powerful which is what made it not get picked up by the FBI. theres no valid reason to put down a 45gap, or 10mm other than lack of knowledge about them IMO

Yes my friend there is a valid reason to put down a caliber like the 45 GAP which has no proven LAW ENFORCEMENT experience. For the record the FBI did pick up the 10mm for a short time, in the form of a 1911 package called the Delta Elite before they decided to go to the Springfield 1911 .45 ACP . I believe the Delta Elite was used by their regional SWAT teams and the HRT teams.

at one time the .45acp had no experience in the field The ballistics do not change in the field. and i'm sure there are officers who carry a .45gap in departments that let you carry what you want.

Talking Re: 45 Gap

I see no reason to go to 45gap over a 45 acp 1911 style sidearm. I have a HK P2000 and have the smallest grip back strap that it came with it on there. I believe my hands are about normal and have no problem with gripping or firing the weapon. If someone has small hands than there are plenty of gun manufactures out there making 45 acp's in different sizes. I understand owning side arms in different calipers, variety is the spice of life but if and when my life depended on it my 1911 45acp is it. I also don't see why you would want to pay somewhere about twice the price for a cartridge with about the same ballistics. I also belive that the acp is more readily available. As for the 10mm I may be wrong but I think the down side for law enforcement was the higher velocities could cause over
penetration.

So what your saying XD45 is that new First year run cars, computer software , computers, new medications "ALWAYS" works wonderfully like the manufacturers say they will...NOT! my friend, not in the real world. Manufacturers rush products out to the public way to fast and use us as the Geauny(spl?) pigs to work out the bugs, they should have done in the first place.
