That's correct.

I think this is going to be a wait and see for most people. let it get tested in the field and such, independent ballistic tests and all that fun stuff.

For those thinking of investing in a 45 Gap. Check ammo availability and prices in your area.

Before I bought a G21SF, I was looking into the Gap. I searched the area for the best prices on ammo, only one gun shop had any at all, two whole boxes of it. Naturally, the other gun shops offered to special order the ammo for me. I came to the conclusion that I really didn't need a pistol that no one stocks ammo for it.

Para Ordnance came out with a pistol chambered for Gap. So you have a choice between Glock and Para. No other gun manufacturers have adopted the cartridge.

I can't help but think that Glock is giving police departments rock bottom prices if they choose the Gap round.

It could be to encourage interest in a failing cartridge or they are just clearing their shelves of unwanted pistols.

Springfield XD is also chambered in 45 GAP. Springfield also had a limited run of small 1911's chambered in 45 GAP. This pistol was re-named the EMP and chambered in the more popular 9x19. The .40 EMP and 45 GAP EMP should be out as soon as Springer can produce them in large numbers.

For me, I like a big honkin' .45 acp with 13+1 rounds. Make mine the G21.

I don't know. The 45acp has been around since the early 1900's and everybody tries to come up with something that works better. Then when all else fails they come along with a better 45(gap) auto. I think i'll just stick with the original. It's always worked for me.

The 357 Sig was the same way with ammo when they first came out...I know...I had a G32.

Most places don't want to stock ammo that they cant sell. The local Wal-Mart had no idea what a THREE FIVE SEVEN SIG was. "all we have is standard .357 magnum" "Can you shoot .38's from this Sig?".

Later Wally World began stocking a few boxes. The the Game Com. started carrying the G31 and now WM has lots of it.

Once the Pa. State Police are all outfitted with G37's you will begin to see more ammo on the shelves in your area.

GAP and ACP prices are within $20 or so per thousand, with the GAP being the one that is a tad more.

The nice thing about owning a Glock is that someone will invent a conversion kit for the GAP guns if they already didnt. You might be able to change your GAP into a 9mm or .22 LR in the future if the .45 GAP goes tits up. At least your not gonna be stuck with a 5mm Remington rimfire!

I shot the 45 Gap a few times from (pitt45gap's) glock and it was fine. The grip felt a little better in my hands compared to the .40 and the gun ran very well. I don't really like the snap in the recoil compared to other pistols but if you are used to glock I am sure it is just fine.

I can't see much wrong with it, besides the limited ammo selection and that never stopped me before.

Glock is agressively pursuing police contracts. They know that we will buy what the police use. I bought a police trade-in Sig P220 from a broker a few months ago. The gun looked brand new. The broker told me that the department had just gotten them in, when Glock offered to sell them new pistols at a reduced rate AND buy back the Sigs. He had bought my pistol from Glock.

I have shot the .45GAP as well. I thought that it shot like a G21 in .45 ACP.
