If you like the rail/beavertail go for the elite if not go for the 2nd gen SAS.

First off - sorry ...lol (I think I'm up to 23)

I don't think you'll find a new Elite for under $900.00

If you want a DA/SA and the SRT, check out the Gen II SAS. It'll probably run you about $900 OTD when all is said and done.
If tails are your thing, go with the Elite. I think you'll be looking at close to $1000 OTD with that.

Either way, sounds like your wife will be pissed. Best thing to do is buy her something she wants first, then get the P229 you want .

Your other option (and if money is tight, this is what I'd do) look for a used P229 with the SRT already installed. They are getting more common (the SRT) and are easier to find these days. I see them come up regularly in the Sig Forum classifieds for around $600-$650 shipped.

Also check out Gun Broker or the other on-line auctions. The P229's are built like tanks. I'd have no problem buying a used one. Pick up a spring kit from Top Gun Supply for $30.00, and you'll be good to go.

I'll keep my eyes open for you. I usually run across good deals every now and then.

Good luck with your search.

The elite isn't that important to me, the only thing the elite has that I really want is the trigger. I could care less about the tail.
I've been looking on gunbroker but really didn't see anything on there in my price range that would warrant the PITA of finding a ffl to tranfer and buying online.
But I'll keep looking.

I would have no problem buying a used one if the money was right.

If you see something let me know.
Thanks again for all the advice everyone has given me, I really appreciate it.

What is your price range?
I think if you are buying a new sig online will be the way to go if you have a reasonable ffl.
For example your 229 with night sights is $799 your sales tax is around $48 making your total around $847

Look at this auction
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=133209529
His buy it now is $709 shipping is $25 and my local ffl charges $20 so I would have this in my hands for $754 that is a big savings.

Shop around you may find a deal on a used one or a certified pre owned as well then you could have the srt added later when it is more cost effective for you.

$850 would be my upper limit but do able. I would rather buy local if I could.
Oh and I checked that auction, I should have mentioned I want a .40 only.
I'm not being a snob but I already have 2 9mm and like the .40.

I emailed this guy about his.

Hmm.. I don't have .45 yet, maybe a 220, and the 226 elite looked pretty sweet in the case.

if you're considering a 220, find a place that you can walk in and buy one. i ordered the new p220 carry elite dark about 12 weeks ago, and was told it would take approx. 7-12 weeks for my gun to arrive.

i called sig and asked them if things were still on schedule, and the response i got was:" oh no, the elites are in high demand right now and the wait time is 14-20 weeks"

my reply:" yes but at the time i ordered mine, approx 10-11 weeks ago, i was told 7-12 weeks"

sig's reply:"sorry, don't know what to tell you, its a long wait, thank you for calling sig sauer, *click*"

my reply:*click* *slam*"mother f%#ker!!!!!!"
