Default Pistol rookie looking for ammo

I recently went down to Glock day at Philly archey and Gun club, I picked up a Glock 23. I'm going to want to put a considerable amount of time in at the range and getting trained. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get reasonablly priced .40 cal ammo so I can put in my range time?

Winchester White Box, 100 round pack can be found at Walmart. That tends to be the best value anymore for store bought stuff.

Oh and welcome to the forum

Go to wal-mart. Get the Winchester White Box. Hard to beat the price anywhere. Then go have fun putting lead down range.

Welcome to the forum. I have searched the Internet and when you add in shipping charges buying directly at a WalMart store has always been the best buy, including taxes, for my 9mm. The 100 round Winchester "white box" FMJ has been good reliable target shooting ammo in my Kahr CW9.

That said, when you look for a range to use be sure they allow you to use your own ammo, I have found that a lot of the ranges, at least here in the Philly area, require you buy their ammo for use at their range. "SPAG" where you were at on Glock Day, does offer a premium membership, twice the cost of the regular membership, that allows you to bring your own. In the long run that may be your best bet if you plan to shoot a lot.

Good luck,
Bill

I know Dicks sporting goods have sales which are good, I don't know of any wall marts in this area selling ammo?,I also found Natchez on the web has good prices.
Also Targetmaster, classic pistol let you shoot your own ammo,SPAG will if you pay $10.00 extra.

The Wal-Mart in Eddystone on Chester Pike does, you're in Broomall, it's a couple minutes from the Mac Dade Blvd. exit on the blue-route, which is just a 2 or 3 exits from Broomall, depending on what part of Broomall you're from.

Wal-Mart Store #2830

I'm gonna have to go with the wal-mart buy. It is by far the best deal I have found in my area. A local gun store I go to regularly can't compete with the wal-mart prices. My suggestion is pretty much the same. Get at least 500 rounds. 200 for the first range trip and 300 to start your stash. Practice practice practice. My reccomendation on carry ammo is Winchester Rangers or Hornady TAP CQ or the FPD. (CQ is the original line of TAP with brass casings and FPD if the new version of TAP with the Black Nickel cases.) My personal feeling is TAP for deep penetration and Rangers for all around great performance. Another suggestion would be to sign up for a CCW class. It definielty helps in the long run. Welcome and keep your powder dry!

Natchezss.com has 165 and 180 gr .40's (aluminum cased CCI Blazer) for $8.99/50

Blazer Brass is $9.49

If I remember, shipping was about $20/1K to allegh. Co.

Targetmaster won't let you shoot the Win. value pack ammo from Wal-Mart, the foreign ammo with steel cases, Geco with crimped primers, or Blazer. I might have forgotten a couple.

Might I suggest that you look into reloading?
