I carry a S&W M60 as a backup
I often carry a S&W M19 2.5" as a primary
I carry a 4" M29 loaded with 250gr "Keith" loads when in the woods.

Many reasons why.

I carry a Taurus model 85. No particular reason except I'm used to it.

Ruger GP100 .357 with Rem. Gold Saber 125gr JHP x6.

Why?

#1- Small bullets that travel really fast. 125gr JHPs in .357 have a helluva following among those who have used them to defend themselves. Since first-shot stopping capability is high on my list, magnums the way.

#2- Always goes bang. Hard to jam up a revolver, and easy to move on to the next round if Murphy strikes and you tap on a dud.

#3- Accuracy. I know I wont be ringing any 100yrd gongs in a defense situation, but revolvers just seem to be natural pointers in my hands, and I like weight-forward guns.

#4- Style.

I got to handle one of those S&W 357 snub with a scandium frame recently. I fell in love. If it wasn't 750 bucks I would have brought her home. One day.

They list them at 12 ounces, but this one is 11.4. I like revolvers. I'm comfortable with them. Makes sense for me to carry one.

I carry a smith 66 as my main carry gun now a days. I have carried Smith taurus and Colt. I feel confindent in the ability of a .357 magnum to inflict damage, and my ability to put a shot where it needs to be with one.
