Default Kimber Ultra CDP II.

Quick question... Does anyone here carry this pistol?

I am NOT interested in a caliber war, a pistol war or any other type of war.

Hell, I'm a short, fat, happy guy.

Just asking a simple question folks!

I would appreciate accuracy reports along with reliability reports.

Thanks!

I have this pistol with the 4" barrel. Great firearm. Very accurate and perfect trigger for quick double taps. I bought it with the intention of carrying it in the winter instead of my G26 but as yet have not been able to find a holster that would work for me. The only bad thing I can say is the grip is on the long side which make it a bit harder to conceal under just a t-shirt in warm weather.

It's not the exact same AFAIK but I carry the Kimber Tactical Ultra II on a pretty regular basis. It's much easier to conceal than my Gov't and lighter than the P7s with the advantage of the larger caliber. I have not had an issue concealing it whether I'm carrying strong side hip or in a shoulder rig.

It shoots well though it's a bit more of a handful than a larger pistol. I haven't had any issues with any ammo with the exception of some hand loads a buddy swore by. Accuracy wise, it's fine, I've been the issue not the pistol.

I'll make it to a group shoot eventually, you're welcome to take her for a spin when I do.

-Chris

4" barrell on mine, very reliable and accurate. I have 3 different hoisters for it, so I can carry it comfortably no matter what time of year it is.

3" 1911's are a bitch to keep running.

Kimbers are notorious for getting sent back for work...especially the 3" ones. And then once Kimber gets the gun running well, tons of people still limp-wrist them, and under-lubricate them.

The 3" 1911 platform is probably THE most problematic carry gun to get running, and keep running.....and those comments come from watching DOZENS of shooters mess with 3" 1911's...the majority of them being Kimber "Ultra" whatevers.

If you want cocked and locked in a smaller .45....get a 4.25" 1911, or a HK45C. They are honestly as small as I would ever consider carrying a .45acp in.

While I would typiclayy agree with the 3" (less than a 4.25" to be specific) can be a little more finnicky than a full sized...there are only a few thenigs that need to get a 1911 running in good order (assuming no maufacturing defects)

My Ultra Carry II (bought used, so no idea as to how many rounds or who / care was taken prior to my ownership) was not reliable...at first.

Sent to kimber...blah...blah...

Was thinking about selling / trading ..then said what the hell, lets change a few things and see if that works. I did get a good deal on it after all.

Replaced the main spring assemby (inner and outer) with Wolf Springs
Replaced the (crappy) Kimber mags with wilson Combat
Replaced / re-tensioned the extractor.

ALL PROBLEMS WENT AWAY IMMEDIATELY and after 2000+ rounds (replacing the inner / outer springs every year or 1000 rounds...for 8.00 it is cheap enough) it has not returned.

It is a daily carry, it feeds my carry rounds, as well as my 200Gr SWC practice rounds.

SIMPLE maintenance on the smaller weapons is essential to keeping it in good working order.

I LOVE MY ULTRA CARRY II. Accurate, dependable, slim, lighweight...carries nicely

I think what synergy was trying to point out was that the ONLY thing that should be needed to get a new firearm running in good order is to remove it from its box! (break-in rounds aside)

Then the 1911 platform should not be considered.

Again - I think that's what synergy was trying to caution about.
