Glock 19 cleaning.
So next month or hopefully later this month I'll be picking up my Glock 19 off lay-a-way, so I am curious. Does anyone know of any place that shows in detail, either text or video the best way to clean, and lube it correctly? I don't want to mess anything up. I found a video on youtube where a guy shows where to lube it, and how (q-tip) so I was just curious. I do know how to do a basic strip. Also for people that know from experience, the lube and such that comes from the factory being a new Glock, how many rounds can i put through before I should clean/lube it.
Thanks!
Dane

Re: Glock 19 cleaning.
You won't mess it up.
There are exactly four parts after your complete field strip:
1. Receiver
2. Slide
3. Barrel
4. Recoil spring/guide assy
Follow the clean/lube instructions in the manual. Be sure not to clean off the copper colored lube from the rails/slide until after you run a few rounds down range.
Just be sure the firearm is completely unloaded and clear before pulling the trigger. Aim in a safe direction. FYI - you need to pull the trigger before you operate the take down "lever" to field strip the gun.
The manual is your friend. Hope this helps. So this is how liberty dies...with thunderous applause.

Re: Glock 19 cleaning.
From what I "read" you only need to clean a Glock every 25k rounds, so you should be good to go for a while.

Re: Glock 19 cleaning.
The manual has everything you need to know about cleaning the G19. I didn't clean or lube mine until after the first 300 rounds or so. Leave the factory copper grease on there, don't wipe it off before shooting. Just check for obstructions should be enough.
After the first cleaning, you are good for the next 150000 rounds. It'll just be a little dirty

PS: Nice choice BTW, the G19 was my first and still my favorite gun to shoot of the 15 guns I own.

Re: Glock 19 cleaning.
The Glock can be taken down further, at your own risk. The instructions at the following link can enhance your knowledge of your weapon greatly, but if you make one mistake, you can turn your quality firearm into a polymer brick.
On the other hand, as far as firearms go, the Glock is one of the simplest and easiest to work with. Good luck!

Re: Glock 19 cleaning.
I have two very good books on Glocks. You can find them at any Gun Show.
1- The Complete Glock Reference Guide
2- How to Customize Your Glock
Both give full details on cleaning.
