My understanding from what I read when I got mine was the older one had the problems. These are the ones imported by Walther USA, not the newer ones that are imported by Smith and Wesson.

I use CCI minimags and have had 0 problems. They are expensive, but considering this is my first 22lr. anything is cheap compared to any of my other guns.

I used to use the Remingtons in the yellow plastic tin before I got the suppressor. They worked pretty well but had some issues.

When I went out and used my suppressor on it I had 0 malfunctions in about 300 rounds. Not sure if the can has anything to do with that.

Yeah, I'm almost positive it was a magazine problem. I have one that was kind of in transition times. It had the old magazines, but it's one that was imported by smith & Wesson, it has the roll stamp on it. My buddy had it before I did, and he just got tired of it sitting in the safe and not doing anything, and I always liked the way it looked, so I bought it from him. I had some issues and then went to the newer magazines and had no problems. I've even tweaked the older ones so that they work pretty well. I'll have a ftf every 50 or 60 rounds, and that's about it. That's pretty good for the old magazines, and usually if I give the slide just a gentle push, it'll feed the round. If you do eventually decide to go that route again, let us know what you think.

I bought a spare mag about a year after I bought the pistol and this has me wondering if it was *old* stock.

What does the roll stamp say?

On the left side of the slide it has the walther name and that it was made in germany, on the right side of the slide it says that walther near the front of the slide and further back near the grip it says smith & wesson. On the right side of the magazines you can look turn the magazines "sideways" and read who makes it, where, and it even has a model number on it. Like one of the old magazines says "Walther P22cal. 22lr Made in Germany 265 93 44" (has pinky extension). I'm not sure if all of the newer magazines say that they're made here in the states or not. I also know that some of the older magazines from Walther were modified and if the seriel number has an A on the end, then it's been modified. I have a "265 93-36A" (no pinky extension) from germany, and it sometimes has hiccups, but it feeds pretty well most of the time. Maybe some of the others who have newer magazines can chime in and have some input on this. When I bought my newer magazines online, they said the manufacturer was "Walther USA". Hope this helps clarify this issue for those interested in it.

Try Aquila Hyper-velocity in this pistol. It makes loud noise but it has much more power to push the recoiling slide back to cure the FTF problem. Guy at shop told me he can put a "weaker" recoil spring on it so regular high velocity round would cycle. I said to him this ain't a 1911 that needs customize. Pretty accurate and fun pistol, however.

Eh, i dont think you need hyper-velocity rounds. Maybe at first but give the P22 about 1000 shots and the spring softens up nicely.

Cool Re: Range Report: P22

I got mine back in 01-02 and had some trouble with it but the probs I had were with the safety lever screws coming loose and the roll pin working out of the slide after dealing with that its worked fine ever since. I saw the same probs in two other guns as well so keep an eye out. Great little gun. Most .22s shoot better after couple thou through them.

Bought one a couple of weeks ago. Light, compact and fun to shoot. No problems other than a high feed (jam) on the first round in the first 2-3 mags. Hasn't happened since. I can't shoot it nearly as well as I do my MKIII's, 22A or Single Six. Will see what happens with more rounds.

I bought one about a week and a half ago. Only 100 rnds through it so far but well worth the $$ I dropped on it, only one problem in 100 rnds and i think a flying round just landed in the slide. Thinking of buying another for my wife cause I dont think im gonna let her have this one, she might not give it back.

P22 is actually more accurate than finely tuned 1911. heck, I nailed a "shoot-n-c" target at 25 yard no problem. I know a dude who CCW P22. 10 rounds of 22LR going at the face is nothing to sneer about, hehehhehehheh
