Default scope mounting hardware ruger SBH

Dear Keystones:
I'd like to scope my Ruger Super Black Hawk .44 mag, 7.5 in ss barrel for hunting; what kind of mounting base should I use? Will one fit into the existing sight screw holes? Must it be drilled? I'd like to avoid getting the SBH Hunter model at this time. Thanks, Shrubdog.

Default Re: scope mounting hardware ruger SBH

I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter model with the integrated scope ring mounts and supplied rings; the ease of scope mounting was a big factor in my purchase of the Hunter model over similar pistols in .44Mag.

My best advice to you is to contact Ruger's customer service department and ask them what they recommend for your model. Scopes and mounts, especially those designed for that kind of application, are not cheap. I'd hate to see you waste your money on something that just doesn't get the job done...
