I have the XS Big Dots on my Kimber Ultra. Had some trouble getting used to them but once I realized that they were not designed for competition accuracy I became rather proficient with them. At 7 yds I consistantly group about 2-2.5 inches on a standard silhouette target. The ultra is my normal carry weapon.

The biggest myth about XS sights is you can't get good accuracy out of them. It's total bunk.

It is a myth indeed. However, as distance increases the issue is that speed is somewhat compromised.

The range report is they are the sights for a defensive pistol. Get a set, read the shooting tips that come with them, install them, go to the range, prepare for an ass stomping of awesome.

I take it you mean a decrease in speed of sight alignment?

A couple of years ago I took the defensive handgun course at Tactical Defense Institute (TDI), West Union Ohio using my Ultra. The Director and my instructor both recommended that I have the XS sights installed on my weapon. I found that it was much easier to get on target from the ready position with the big dot rather than having to line up the three dots on my full size 1911s. As previously posted they are designed for defense.

I tried a set of big dots on one of my trainers Glock 22.
I had a lot of trouble but really didn't have it long enough to even try to be proficient with them.

Instead, I have Heinie Straight Eight Slant Pros and had Richard Heinie paint a white circle around the front tritium. This essentially makes the front sight bigger and easier to pick up.This sight fits into the rear notch and seems easier for me to align than the beveled rear sight of XS

I do have an XS big dot front sight that I tried to marry to a Heinie overcut rear sight on my other Glock 23. Unfortunataly, I had an eye injury last May and never really found out if this combo will work.

Hopefully I'll get around to it this spring.
