Cool 22 or 45

If you got into a gun fight would you like a 45 with one good placed shot or a 22? If shot placement was everything that is. What does caliber make if first shot is good?

Certainly, with the same shot placement, the .45 would be better. But that's not the real basis of the caliber/accuracy argument.

The argument about shot placement vs caliber is based on the assumption that one can fire a smaller caliber, less powerful round more accurately. I'd take one perfect shot with the .22 over a bunch of weak hits with the .45. It's all about picking the most powerful round you can use effectively.

Neither, .40 for me. But as Cyo said it's a bit of personal preference; what you feel you can be most accurate with.

Am I being naive here, or is a shot in the head a shot in the head?

Cool Re: 22 or 45

Cyo
OK, one in the gut from a 22 or a 45 your choice. I`ll take a 22. I know your first sentence gave a reply but lets be real would you carry a 22 to a gun fight or a 45?

I'm pretty dangerous with my Vaquero - so I'll pick the 45(Long Colt that is).

If I know I'm going to a fight I'll take my M1A Socom.
On the .22 or .45, if your target is going to stand still and let you put one straight in an occular cavity, got for the .22.
If you need to do some damage, try the .45 (or .40, or 9, or .357, or .38).

Default Re: 22 or 45

usually this genre of debate is about service calliber bullets. 9mm and larger.
Of course then the debate can become about faster/lighter vs. slow and heavy.

Ive said before and will say again.
QUALITY MODERN AMMO
If you are going to claim your 40 will outperform my 9mm you cant be carrying hydrashock's.

oh, and I love to bust out this pic

but 22?
really??????

Are .22's good for self defense? I've always wondered. They can bounce off of a person correct?

A .22 will not bounce off, ask Ronald Reagan. If it is what you have, use it. If you can shoot nothing bigger, use it. Use the best ammo you can find.
I often use a NAA .22 magnum mini revolver for a BUG.

I've been on one call as an EMT that a guy said it bounced off his leg, the PD believed it to be a .22 which is why i asked. I think I'll stick to a 9mm or .40.
